We believe he's a porn addict because he is the custodian of records for pornographic material on 2-4 porn sites. We believe PP is harboring him because several of them know about it including Michael and the fact that he is still posting there as recent as yesterday says he's not banned. Treatment for a porn addict includes "no Internet access" which means that if PP was interested in giving this guy help he would be banned from the site. Basically he needs to be banned from the Internet. Period.
Here is one of the websites where you will find him as costodian of records for the porn he peddles. When you get to the site, do a seach for Steve Aspinall and you'll find him listed with his Otley, UK address:

Mikey, Not sure how you are going to take legal account against an anonymous comment on a BLOG. I don't have access to the IP address of the poster. I guess you'll need to take blogspot.com to court to get them to give up the IP address and then you'll have to take their ISP to court to get them to give up the subscriber's name. Then you can take the poster to court for stating their opinion in a comment section of a BLOG.

steve's explanation is not plausible and he is very deceptive as we've all come to discover from the way he blogs... he will fool some of the people all the time... but not all of us...the guy who sells refigerators to eskimos is no mathch for this guy you're trying to cover for....and now we know why he leaves such long-winded comments about anything, everything and nothing....i believe it's an outlet for him as a writer of long erotic stories he has to find a way to "compensate" by blogging the porn away if you will
we sure hope none of his avid defenders on PP are customers for that God awful stuff he's associated with peddling on the web... -

the way this story has unfolded in the last couple months when it first broke to a few people leads me to believe steve is involved in peddling porn
for instance, there were initially 4 websites with his name and uk address as custodian of records; as soon as we bring one of them to his attention it gets removed; so far 2 of them have been removed as recent as 24 hours ago after i contacted michael about it; he appears to know these sites exist but appears to want to wait for us to point them out before he removes his information from the site; we are researching to find out if his information is being replaced by an alias to cover for him or is the info being completely removed which is a sign of repentance....dunno yet..
why don't steve go on pp and set the record straight if he is truly innocent? i feel like michael knew about this before now but remained silent for a reason instead of getting this guy help to stay off the web.... again, i do not believe for one minute that this guy is innocent....especially not from the way he brags about his scholarly accolades and how smart he is..... but allva sudden he is naive and didn't have a clue about what was going on.... yeah right
this is yet another casuality of the flawed un-Biblical Moses Model some aspects of which Michael appears to secretly support in a weird kind of way... i and a few others i know have removed PP from our favorite folder until such time as this is resolved bc we feel the site has no credibility or Godly purpose at this point -

Michael is correct.
The comments being made are actionable. The charges in question, applicable under US and UK law pertain to 'libel' and 'defamation of character.'
Freedom of speech does not preclude the material harm caused by such behaviour, which is why tabloid newspapers and gossip magazines run risks and lose libel cases all the time, simply hoping that no one will sue them. Freedom of Speech doesn't wash.
You are correct that in order to deal with an anonymous poster a process would have to be followed to reveal information in court. This is not difficult and particularly under more recent US legislation the United States government takes a very dim view of 'privacy' for anonymous criminals on the internet.
I have already discussed this matter with some of the owners of proxy servers that appear to have been used in the sending of blackmail and harassment to Phoenix Preacher.
It is also true that any medium of such content is not exempt from liability in displaying such content. You should be aware of that. As the owner and operator of a blog in which you appear to appeal to your readers as a voice of authority and credibility, you are liable even for 'comments' which remain on your site which have criminally or civilly actionable statements. In short, you are liable for publishing your users, whether they're anonymous or not.
That's the legal side of this.
What should be pointed out is that you're in a dubious position of giving credence to someone who is clearly manifesting very dangerous, uncontrollable character traits, who is not under the authority of any spiritual process, any pastor, nor has any conscience for the consequences of their actions nor indeed any credible moral process for the justification of their behaviour.
You have someone posting anonymously, who hides in the shadows of the internet, who is appealing to be taken seriously, but who is clearly set on an agenda. And I can tell you that you have been extensively lied to, misdirected, and I have the proof which I'll happily take to court when this matter gets prosecuted.
What I'm not going to do is use public forum to be 'held accountable' to this lunatic (or lunatics). I'm not going to give credence to the ever-expanding conspiracy theory they have invented in which I am an evil genius running a secret immoral empire which by error or design I failed to keep secret, who has vast power over the internet to make pages appear and disappear and so on and so forth.
This rubbish is offensive to me personally, but worse than that it is offensive to anyone capable of exercising intelligent thought.
Nothing I say will change what this deranged person believes, or spreads around the internet.
If he posts his name and address then I'm happy to let him find out whether he was right or wrong in court, where at the same time I will request that a judge have him psychiatrically evaluated and assess whether hand-typing and posting in excess of fifty threats, accusations, expressions of intellectual blackmail per day to a blog is a sane and rational thing to do, or if the munchausens-esque elaborations of his fraudulent and false 'investigations' as a self declared moral policeman are grounds for concern, or if his illegal use of proxy servers and throwaway email addresses to send harrassing emails and threats is in any way making him any more credible.
What I will say is this: I am not now, nor have I been at any time in any way involved in the pornographic industry.

Your poster repeatedly vents his frustration that I refuse to give account for myself in public. Yet curiously he claims to have heard my account, and to find it incredulous. That tells you that this is someone who knows more about me than he is saying, who has chosen not only to ignore the due process that he claims to be undertaking, but who is sufficiently ashamed of what he is doing as to hide like an infant in the darkness.
This will not wash, buster, the Lord rebuke you.
There is no process, Biblical or civil, legal or spiritual which justifies what is being done here, or how it is being done.
I will not be doing anything to repost the accusations against me because I will not be accountable for drawing the attention of believers to pornographic websites so that they can explore this dark world for themselves, racked with prejudice and morbid curiosity. Satan doesn't need my help taking them to that place. I worry that your poster is altogether too familiar with the terminology and the character of this kind of material and it doesn't belong in the so-called 'Christian' arena of discussion.
Blogs and forums which nurture this kind of garbage are now entering an age where they will have to take account for what they do. They appeal to readers for credibility and the appearance of spiritual and Biblical legitimacy, and it will be issues like this, prosecuted by obsessive lunatics, and nurtured by supposedly well-meaning but immature Christian wannabe's which eventually brings down this entire scene, and shows it up for having believed, promoted, prosecuted and disseminated every spurious rumour, libellous insinuation, hateful tirade, foundless accusation and blatant lie which some self-declared, unverifiable, mentally unstable lunatic chooses to poison believers minds with.
I sincerely hope that in the future whenever anyone waves pages printed from internet sites as gospel truth exposes on the lives of ministers in the church to humiliate them and persecute them in the public arena, that there will be someone with integrity not far behind waving pages like these which prove that 'internet crusaders' cannot be trusted.
If you want to talk to me about these issues, you can do the decent thing and talk to me directly.
To do that you'll have to get over whatever prejudice you have toward Michael, and you'll have to ask him to put you in touch with me.
That might be a humbling experience. But you'll be doing it in order to get to the truth, and for the greater good.
